Cleethorpes Town manager Dave Smith believes his side have 'nothing to fear' when they travel to second place Liversedge at The Clayborn Ground on Saturday in The Pitching In Northern Premier League East Division.

The Owls are coming into this fixture on the back of a 2-0 away win at Brighouse on Tuesday night with goals from Luke Lofts and Scott Vernon clinching a massive three points on a rough surface that stretched Cleethorpes' unbeaten run to eight games.

That result in the week keeps Cleethorpes third in the league table, 12 points behind league-leaders Marske United with the Owls playing a game more.

Liversedge on the other hand currently sit second in the league table despite losing only once this season. Cleethorpes currently sit 11 points behind Sedge but the home side for this game have played two games less.

Sedge have had some extra time to prepare for this game after their game away at Pickering Town last week was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Ahead of the game, Cleethorpes manager Smith has hailed his sides victory over Brighouse in the week but he's very much wary of the threat Liversedge possesses.

"I was delighted with the win on Tuesday, especially on a difficult surface like that," he said.

"It was tough out there, but the lads have given me what I wanted and more. I couldn't have been happier on Tuesday.

"But now we have a very difficult game coming up now against a very good side that have had slightly longer to prepare after their game was called off last week. They're certainly not second by accident."

The previous encounter between the two sides saw six goals scored in total as Liversedge left the myEnergi Stadium with all three points following a 4-2 victory against the Owls. It was a game which saw the away team go 3-0 up within the first nine minutes of the first half.

"They have a lot of good players on their books in which we need to try and contain as much as we can come Saturday," he said.

"We obviously don't want a start like the one we did in the home game, but we'll certainly look to give it a good go and to try and get a result.

"With the run we're currently on as well, we'll certainly go there with nothing to fear that's for sure."
